St. Edburga of Gloucester, Abbess of Gloucester (Died AD 735) St. Edburga of Gloucester, sister of King Osric of the Hwicce, was consecrated by St. Egwin in AD 710. She succeeded her elder sister, St. Cuneburga of Gloucester as the second Abbess of St. Peter's Abbey in that city. She ruled this religious house for a very long time - fifteen or twenty-five years. She died in Gloucester on 26th June AD 735, was buried by Bishop Wilfrid of Worcester and was succeeded at the abbey by her sister, St. Weeda.
