Donaut, 'King' of Dumnonia
(Born c.AD 280)
(Welsh: Dynod; Latin: Donatus; English: Donat)

Although not a king, Donaut could possibly have been a powerful man in the Roman administration. The 12th century author, Geoffrey of Monmouth, tells us that he was brother of Caradoc of Dumnonia and appears to have inherited his influence in the Civitas Dumnoniorum. According to the legend of St. Ursula, he gave his daughter of that name in marriage to Conan Meriadoc, but she would only consent if she was first able to go on a pilgrimage with eleven thousand virginal followers. They were all massacred in Cologne.

Folkloric records of Donaut date back to the 10th century. He is almost certainly legendary.
