St. Ewryd was a younger son of Cynyr Ceinfarfog, Lord of Caer Goch. He founded the church of Bodewryd on Ynys Mon (Anglesey) in the early 6th century. Apart from the fact that he died on the 31st January, nothing else seems to be known about him. In one version of the Bonedd y Saint, he is called Iewryd, thus leading to confusion with the female St. Iwerydd, alias Urith, of Chittlehampton in Devon. Records of St. Ewryd date back to the 16th century. He is generally considered apocryphal.
